We are the parents of three and we have lived in New Caney ISD for 18+ years.  As our children reached school age, we became very involved with every step of their education and extracurricular activities.  Holding ourselves accountable first and foremost and then being active with the schools and our community on a daily basis.  By trying to understand the testing requirements mandated by the state and the evaluation of our schools by state and federal officials, it helped me to appreciate the work of those teachers who still practice at the top of their profession to make sure that our children do not become simply 'test takers'.  These teachers demonstrate greatness by showing their students how to see beyond the testing and by providing them the confidence that 'they can do anything if they put their mind into it'.  By involving them in sports (recreational and competitive), our children will be well-rounded contributors to society.

Let us remember: One book, one pen, one child, and one teacher can change the world.
